National Communications Officer of the opposition NDC Sammy Gyamfi is facing backlash on social media over a photo he posted on Twitter.
The photo, which makes reference to the murder of an African-American man, George Floyd, is in protest to the Electoral Commission’s compilation of a new voters’ roll.
The EC Chairperson Jean Mensa is seen in a cartoon kneeling on a book placed on the neck of a handcuffed man with President Akufo-Addo kneeling on the man as well.

The firebrand politician, in response to the backlash, insists the post is not a mockery of the racist killing of George Floyd in the US.
Scores of responses to the post say the post should be taken down, but Mr. Gyamfi is adamant.
Sammy Gyamfi used this in protest of the new voters register and it didn't go well, he explained the narrative; this is not to mock George Floyd" but Sammy, you shouldn't have used it at all cos how painfully George died in this mode will stirs in all manner of anger regardless🤦🏿♂️ https://t.co/QE8Qynsl6p

The Flyer Sammy Gyamfi has posted can do us more harm as a Nation. Floyd’s issue shouldn’t be a one to play with in any day.

It’s very sensitive to the world at large. Americans can pick up this flyer and it will start from that point.🤦🏿♂️
Ah The NDC🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
Sammy Gyamfi , I wish you with all my heart speedy recovery from IGNORANCE

You think Sammy Gyamfi is right to use someone’s painful death which has brought about the fight against racism to do petty politics cos racial injustice is the same as voters ID card registration.
