Sadio Mane missed the decisive penalty in a shootout to send Senegal tumbling out of the Africa Cup of Nations.
After the first eight spotkicks were all scored, Mane saw his effort striaght down the middle saved by Fabrice Ondoa before Vincent Aboubakar emphatically dispatched his penalty into the top corner to send Cameroon through to the semi-finals.
Senegal had dominated regulation time but struggled to create any clear-cut chances as Cameroon were content to sit deep and looked to be playing for penalties from the outset.
Mame Biram Diouf and Cheikhou Kouyate squandered Senegal’s best chances, both shooting over, and in the end they had goalkeeper Abdoulaye Diallo to thank for the game going to penalties as he made a smart save to deny Aboubakar in extra time.
Mane looked distraught at the end and had to helped off the field by manager Aliou Cisse, who famously missed the decisive penalty for Senegal against th same opposition in the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations final.
Cameroon will face either Ghana or DR Congo in the same stadium on Thursday.
