The Ghana Rugby Association is poised to emulate the success of Rugby giants South Africa as it pushes for a competitive league to start next year.
The league is expected to make the sports popular in Ghana but ahead of that, the Greater Accra Rugby Association will host seven teams at the El Wak Stadium in a one day Rugby Gala on Sunday December 5.
The gala is also expected to serve as preparation for the upcoming Confederation of African Rugby Congress to be hosted in Ghana.
Elections will be held at the Congress to elect new African Rugby executives and President of Ghana Rugby Gifty Anna Mayers is already counting the benefits.
“When you bring the big guns to your turf, this is an opportunity for you to take because you have a captive audience and they will listen to you…It is not every day that you get the chance to talk to chairman of International Rugby Board,” she said.
