The national skate soccer team, Rolling Rockets are few steps away from the maiden Skate Soccer tourney after 5-1 win over Togo in their 7 game series last Saturday to annex the Binatone International Unity Skate Soccer Cup
In an impressive display, scoring two first half goals and adding three more after the break, the Rockets were ruthless against their Togolese counterparts who scored a consolation goal from a spot kick.
Rockets skipper Gariba Sani was adjudged the man-of-the-match and goal-king after scoring two goals, while Umar Amadu and defender Mohammed Awalu were named the Most Valuable Player and Best Defender respectively.
Chief Executive Officer of the International Federation of Skate Soccer (IFSS), Albert Frimpong, expressed satisfaction with the event and said he believed the players would benefit from it especially as they prepare for next year's Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.
Last Saturday’s international friendly was organised by Binatone electronics under the auspices of the IFFS to help provide the Rockets with international exposure ahead of the African championship to be hosted in Ghana next year.
According to Mr. Frimpong, other international matches have been lined up for the Rockets against Nigeria, Niger, Cote d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso.
Mr Frimpong lauded the efforts of Binatone, Diamond Cement Ghana Limited, Ply Products and Auto Plaza Ghana Limited for their support.
The CEO of Binatone, Sunil Lalvani, noted that his outfit was keen on improving the sport in the country and was prepared to adequately prepare the Rockets ahead of the continental campaign.
Ghana will next play Nigeria in October.
