Rock City Hotel, in partnership with the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) and the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) Nkawkaw Chapter, has launched a road safety awareness campaign aimed at reducing traffic accidents and promoting responsible road use in the Kwahu area.
The campaign, themed “Drive Safe, Arrive Alive,” was unveiled at the Nkawkaw New Station and brought together key stakeholders, including transport operators, government agencies, and community leaders.
The initiative is to sensitise all road users in ensuring safer travel during the busy holiday season and beyond.
Georgette Quarmyne, Corporate Communications and CSR Manager for Rock City Hotel, reiterated the hotel’s commitment to improving road safety, especially in Nkawkaw, a key transit point on the Accra-Kumasi highway.
“Our roads connect lives and livelihoods, but unsafe practices threaten the harmony of our communities. This campaign is a call to action for all stakeholders to take ownership of road safety,” she said.
Akua Ansaah Mfoafo, NRSA Eastern Regional Director, praised the initiative, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in reducing road fatalities. Superintendent Asante of the Nkawkaw Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) also urged drivers to prioritize safety by following traffic rules, maintaining their vehicles, and adhering to speed limits.
As part of the launch, reflective vests, stickers, and road safety materials were distributed to drivers and pedestrians. Volunteers engaged the local community in discussions about road safety practices.
The campaign will feature ongoing outreach programs and monitoring activities. Rock City Hotel plans to maintain momentum by partnering with individuals and organizations to extend the safety message across the region.
