Two female students of one of the popular universities in the Accra metropolis, one of whom is Rabiu’s lover, have been arrested by the Accra Regional Police Command for questioning.
The two young ladies, aged 20 and 21, were arrested on Monday February 27, 2012 around 11:00a.m.
They were granted a police enquiry bail on the same day when their parents arrived after spending almost ten hours in police custody.
Information available to Daily Guide indicates that the 20-year-old lady was the lover of the dreaded armed robber, Rabiu, who was gunned down in a shoot-out with the police at Ogbojo last Friday.
According to a police source, she normally visited Rabiu in the company of her friend so eventually both ladies became acquainted with the robber who introduced himself as a student and a business tycoon.
His lover, who is cooperating with the police, revealed that she knew Rabiu as Baba James.
He lived in one of the students’ hostel and was therefore considered as one of them.
She said they had barely started dating so she never knew about Rabiu’s robbery escapades.
The police have so far, after interrogating the two ladies, retrieved a Mazda saloon car with registration number GS 7065-11 from the hostel where he lived.
Other items retrieved are ATM cards of different banks and a Togolese identity card.
The items are being kept as exhibits at the regional police headquarters.
Rabiu was killed on February 24, 2012 when an attack they planned on a Nigerian national resulted in a fierce exchange between his gang and the police who had then ambushed them.
Rabiu and his accomplices, Sam Peters, and Raman who escaped, had gone to Ogbojo to attack the Nigerian over a missing pistol they hid in the flower bed of a house adjacent to his (Nigerian’s house).
The police are pleading with the Ghanaian public and Togo nationals who might have come in contact with the robber when he was alive to kindly call at the regional police headquarters or the nearest police station to volunteer information about the robber for a reward.
This is in a bid to help recover most of the stolen items.
Meanwhile, Felivian Adombila Ayariga Dion, the 26-year-old pregnant model who was arrested on Saturday, February 25, is still in custody while police prefer charges of habouring a criminal against her.
She is expected to be in an Accra Circuit Court today.
