Playing football without spectators would cost GHS 60,000 according to Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah.
This revelation cast doubt on the return of the current suspended football season should government ease restrictions for contact sports to resume.
GFA's proposal to government COVID-19 team on football seem to havr not met the requirements as government lifted restrictions on only non-contact sports, leaving football to remain under suspension.
There are suggestions matches could be played behind closed doors should the suspension be lifted by government, but Mr Asiamah claim, per estimation, games without fans would cost the National Sports Authority (NSA) GHS 60,000 per match.
"How do we disinfect all the stadia, the hotels because the players sleep there?" Asiamah quizzed at a press briefing today.
“How do we test all these players? In our environment, is it possible to play football without our supporters?
“The figure that came out from the NSA was about GHS 60,000 per match. That’s a major challenge,” he said.
