A cross-section of residents of Sunyani have called on the various political parties to remove their billboards from the streets.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency some of the residents said the giant billboards have been left standing along the principal streets of Sunyani after the 2008 elections.
Madam Gladys Nsowah, a Caterer said the billboards should not be allowed to go waste since huge amounts of money were spent to mount them and that they should be kept in good shape for use during the 2012 electioneering campaigns.
“If the billboards are kept in good condition the parties will not have to spend money again to mount new ones for the 2012 elections,” she said.
Mr Eric Addison, an official of ARB Apex Bank noted that “it will be a waste of money and time for the parties to prepare new bill boards for their campaigns in the next elections”.
Mrs Charlotte Amanfo, a trader, suggested that those spaces should be rented to individuals and companies to advertise their goods or services.
