An acute water shortage has hit Kabanya line, a suburb of Kajeji in the Sene East District of the Bono East Region disrupting the domestic, economic and social activities of inhabitants.
The only borehole facility that provides water for the people has been without water for days and the residents now have to trek several kilometres to neighbouring communities for their water supply.
The residents are calling on authorities to assist them with a potable source of water.
Felicia, a resident at Kabanya line, lamented that they have to go through many challenges due to the shortage of water in their community.
“We have not taken our bath since morning because there is no water, and we have guests because we have a funeral but there is no water for them and the children too do not get water to bath to school, so we go through a lot of difficulties,” Felicia said.
Another resident, Kuma, says the situation is making it difficult to carry out their daily activities and believes that having extra boreholes is the only solution to the problem they are faced with.
“They say there is a problem, so the water is not flowing, so we call on authorities to at least support us with extra boreholes,” she said.
If steps are not taken to assist the people in the situation will unfortunately worsen.
