Some residents of Ejura-Sekyedumase in the Ashanti Region are lobbying for the President to appoint Mohammed Amin Yakubu as the Municipal Chief Executive for the area.
The residents argue that Mr. Amin Yakubu has distinguished himself as a grassroots person who has contributed immensely to the growth of the party over the years.
They believe his appointment will help the NPP regain its lost glory in the constituency.
"He is humble, people-centered, hardworking, and understands party works. So we the youth of Ejura-Sekyedumase plead with the president to give the MCE position to Mohammed Amin," one of the residents, Ismaila Yakubu told JoyNews.
Another resident claims the constituents did not like the outgoing MCE.
"I can count his works as MP and also as MCE. He was the best performing MP and MCE respectively, yet the people voted against him because they don't like him."
The residents say the appointment of Mohammed Amin Yakubu as MCE will be a reward for his hard work, commitment, and loyalty to the party.
Amin Yakubu’s appointment, according to the residents, will also strongly help position the party to reclaim the Ejura-Sekyedumase parliamentary seat which has eluded the party in the last two elections.
Another resident, Mahmud Mohammed Rabiu appeals to the President to consider Mr. Yakubu as the next MCE for Ejura Sekyeredumasi Municipality to drive change.
Mr. Yakubu has been described as a perfect replacement for Alhaji Salisu Bamba, the immediate past MCE.
