Residents of Akyem Swedru last Monday jubilated over the creation of the Birim South District with the location of the capital at Akyem Swedru.
Led by the Akyem Swedru Youth Association, (ASYA) the people sang and expressed their profound gratitude to the government for considering Akyem Swedru Constituency worthy to be upgraded to a district and more so making the town the capital.
Mr Yaw Tweneboah, Chairman of ASYA, told the GNA that the town had enough lands to meet every need of the new capital.
He said infrastructure development that suited the needs of a new district capital were already in place and that currently the town is home for the District Police headquarters, District Circuit Court and the District Headquarters of the Ghana Water Company among others.
Mr Tweneboah assured the government and the general public that the town was fully prepared and ready in every facet of development to host the new district as its capital.
