The Rent Control Department of the Ministry of Works and Housing has announced that its operations have now moved online.
According to them, this shift is part of efforts to streamline operations and enhance service delivery for landlords and tenants.
Speaking to JoyNews at the launch of the first phase of the department's digitalisation project, the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Dr Prince Hamid Armah, said that the initiative will alleviate the frustrations associated with accommodation issues and help landlords and tenants resolve rental disputes more efficiently.
“The new system will allow the landlords and the tenants to interact with the department online, eliminating the need for in-person visits.
“Whether you need to register a property or file a complaint or resolve a dispute, you will now be able to do so from the comfort of your home or office,” he said.
Dr Armah emphasised that automated processes will support everything from property registration to complaint resolution, ensuring that services are delivered efficiently, transparently, and in real-time.
“Digital Tenancy Agreement will allow landlords and tenants to handle paperwork electronically, saving time and resources. The unique digital property addresses will be assigned to all rented properties, providing a new level of clarity and organisation to the rental market,” he added.
On his part, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Works and Housing, Stephen Yaw Osei, explained that the initiative would bridge the gap between the department’s services and landlords.
He noted that the system will also provide access to information that will fast-track dispute resolution and promote more transparent processes.
“As we launch this project today, we are not just embracing technology, we are committing to a future where our services are more responsive, accessible and transparent to everyone.”
He encouraged the public to explore the new system, provide feedback, and continue supporting the ministry in its efforts to modernise its services.
