Renew your spirituality- Africans urged

Dr. Cindy Trimm, former Government Senator for Bermuda has called on Africans to renew their social and spiritual commitment to God and mankind. She said this was the only way through which Africa would be revived and saved from the numerous and the unflinching challenges that the continent was facing. Dr Trimm said this when she paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Tourism and Diasporan Relations, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, in Accra to inform him of her interest in the “Joseph Project” being undertaken by the Ministry. She said there was the need for networking between Ghana and African Americans in the Diaspora to work together to regain what the continent lost during the slave trade. "There is the need to create a multi-disciplinary network of educators, social scientists, community developers and medical professionals, among others, to mobilize Africans towards economic emancipation." Dr. Trimm noted that strengthening of the family system, awareness creation on health and education were also means of eradicating some of the contemporary problems confronting Africa. She called on Africans to accept themselves and recognize that there was something good and precious in them that needed to be unearthed for the growth of the continent. While in Ghana, Dr Trimm would hold meetings with opinion leaders, visit the Cape Coast Castle and hold a church rally in Accra and Kumasi. Mr Obsetsebi-Lamptey lauded the initiative and called on Africans to have a positive image about themselves to enable the continent to realize its goals. He said the Joseph Project was aimed at bringing all Africans together to give back to Africa the good things they had acquired, adding that people should not read any politics into the project. Mr Obsetsebi-Lamptey therefore called on Africa to use the skills and talent bestowed on them as a continent to restructure and propel Africa to greater heights. Source: GNA
