The Ejisu-Juaben District Chief Executive, Mr Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, has called on religious leaders to help to protect the country's cultural heritage.
He said the time had come for Christian, Islamic and traditional religious leaders to start educating their members on the need to practice and preserve the good aspects of the culture.
Mr Afrifa said this at the inter-district primary schools cultural festival held at Ejisu at the weekend.
The participants were from Ejisu-Juaben, Asante-Akim North and South, Sekyere East and Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma districts.
They competed in choral music, poetry recitals, drum language and drumming and dancing.
He said religious leaders could help protect the country's cultural heritage by encouraging the members to wear traditional dresses and others to worship places.
Mrs Agnes Okyere Gyamfi, District Director of Education for Ejisu-Juaben, advised teachers to help develop cultural studies in children so that they would grow to appreciate their culture.
