Religious organizations and civil society groups have been urged to educate their members on environmental cleanliness to help prevent communicable diseases. Mrs Flourence Kofie, a staff nurse at the Mankranso District Hospital in the Ahafo Ano South District, who made the appeal said Malaria, Typhoid fever and Cholera could be prevented if the people were educated to keep their surroundings clean. She was addressing members of the Mankranso Seventh-Day Adventist Church Youth Fellowship after a clean-up exercise at the hospital on Sunday. Mrs Koffie advised the youth against drug abuse and alcoholism and said that could affect their health and progress. Pastor Emmanuel Amoako, the Mankranso District Pastor of the Church, said the exercise was part of the Church's social responsibility and that plans were far advanced to extend the exercise to other communities in the district. He said the Church had initiated guidance and counseling programmes to assist the youth to grow up to become responsible citizens. Source: GNA
