Registrar of Companies given green light to shut down Q-Net

The Office of Registrar of Companies has been directed by an Accra High Court to shut down Q-Net Investment Limited.

The Court presided over by Justice Jennifer Abena Dadzie found that the case filed by Attorney Godfred Yeboah Dame is “a proper case in which the powers of the court are to be executed to wind-up Respondent (Q-Net)”.

Mr Dame had in his petition to the Court argued that the company is being operated for criminal and illegal purposes or carrying out business not authorized by its constitution contrary to the national interest.

Registered in 2015, Q-Net Investment Limited was to carry out the business of mining, oil and gas, real estate development, transport services and civil engineering.

Its operations mainly took place in the Northern, Upper East, Bono East, Ashanti, Eastern, Greater Accra, Upper West, Western and Ahafo regions.

The AG had told the court the company was part of a network of multinational companies owned by Quest International or QI group, headquartered in Hong Kong.

The company and its officials are said to have Lured people to pay the sum of 5,250 cedis to be placed in various jobs.

The AG says this turned out to be false; “Petitioner asserts the widespread criminal and illegal purposes for which the respondent is being operated contrary to its stated incorporation purposes. Grossly undermines its existence in the Ghanaian communities.”

The Company failed to enter an appearance in court despite its officials being served notices of court dates.

The court nonetheless proceeded and heard from the Attorney General’s witnesses including security operatives who testified regarding the alleged criminal operations.

Justice Dadzie granted the request for the winding up of the company.

She also restrained directors and officers of the company from playing various roles in the name of the company.
