Embattled Referee Tetteh Effah has lashed out at the Referees Review Committee for the season long sanction imposed on him, describing the punishment as uncalled for and without merit.
According to him, he did nothing wrong to deserve this sanction since he was not the main official in charge, hence believes 13 weeks off the field is misplaced.
Referee Effah was the Assistant Referee One for the Week One Glo premiership match between Tema Youth and Kotoko at the Tema Park which ended in a 1-1 draw. He has been punished by the referee’s review committee for poor officiating in the week one Tema encounter for failing to award a penalty to Kotoko.
He told Enoch Wollanyo on Asempa FM’s Sports Nite programme that, he has not been treated well by the Committee but will not appeal against the decision.
“I saw the infringement as a penalty but the centre referee had already whistled for a corner kick and his decisions on the pitch are always superior moreover, I was only there to assist him”, he added.
Referee Effah was sanctioned together with the centre referee, Vincent Otoo.
Meanwhile, Ref. Otoo has also expressed his dissatisfaction with the sanction meted out to his colleague and believes he (Vincent Otoo) rather should have been punished since he made that decision and was the one superior on the day.
Five other referees were also hit with various degrees of punishments.
