Michael Orda, a 26-year-old labourer lost his life on Thursday when the rear tyres of an articulated truck he boarded from Accra to Aflao ran over him.
He was believed to have secretly entered the trailer of the truck,
on its way to Aflao, at the Tema end of the Motorway and was trying to
get down unnoticed, while the vehicle was about to stop at the Diamond
Cement Factory at Aflao, its destination.
Orda died while being conveyed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital
in Accra on referral from the Ketu District Hospital.
A source close to the Aflao Police said that on Thursday March 19
this year the truck with registration number GE 6386 X, travelling from Accra to Aflao made a brief stop-over, at about 0400 hours, at the Tema end of the Motorway.
Orda, a cement loader, who was also at the end of the motorway,
on his way to Aflao, clandestinely boarded the truck.
As the truck was negotiating a roundabout to stop at the vehicle park near the Diamond Cement Factory at Aflao, Orda jumped
down but in the process fell, was ran over, and seriously mutilated.
Orda was rushed to the Ketu District Hospital but died on the way
to Accra on referral.
The Police source said Orda’s wife said her husband left Aflao to
Tema to offload cement from a truck three days before the incident.
He said Orda’s body was in the morgue at Ketu District Hospital
pending autopsy while the driver of the truck, Kofi Ahenka was helping
police in their investigations.
