The longest Premier League season in history saw the rise and fall of Ghanaian players.

Players like Jordan Ayew took their second chance by the scruff of the neck as players such as Christian Atsu faded away with every passing moment of the season.

In total, there were four Ghanaian players in the Premier League this season; Crystal Palace duo Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp, Newcastle's Christian Atsu and Daniel Amartey of Leicester City.

With the Premier League concluding over the weekend, the Joy Sports team have once again run the rule on how well these players performed.

Jordan Ayew - Crystal Palace (9/10)

Arguably Palace's player of the season, the Ghanaian contributed the most goals for the club this season with nine goals and two assists.

Nine goals may look small relatively, but it is the weight and relevance of the goals that count; out of the nine goals, five of those were match winners and two of which were equalisers. Essentially, Jordan Ayew's goals won Crystal Palace 17 points this season.

Despite being used as a winger for the most parts of the season, Ayew over-performed his Expected Goals (xG) which was 6.5. For a player who was bought for just £2.5 million, he certainly justified his price tag this season.

Jeffrey Schlupp - Crystal Palace (7/10)

Despite missing key games due to injury, Schlupp impressed whenever he was on the pitch for Roy Hodgson's men.

The Ghanaian midfielder scored three goals and provided one assist in 17 matches this season. He also put in a shift defensively winning six tackles, 13 interceptions and 15 clearances.

Out of Schlupp's 18 shots attempted, nine of those were on target. With 50% of his shots on target, the 27-year-old ranked fourth in the Premier League.

Christian Atsu - Newcastle (6.5/10)

Christian Atsu had two contrasting halves this season. Out of his 19 appearances in the Premier League, 16 came in the first half with Atsu being limited to just three appearances after the turn of the year.

In the league, Atsu provided three assists with the most important being his first which saw him set up Joelinton for the winner at Spurs.

Atsu has been heavily linked with a move away from the St. James this summer with teams from Spain and Germany interested in the Ghanaian.

Daniel Amartey - Leicester City (N/A)

Daniel Amartey had to be taken off on a stretcher in the closing stages of the game against West Ham two years ago.

Since then, the Ghanaian hasn't featured for the Foxes suffering a fresh set back January this year.

His current contract with Rodgers' men runs till 2022, but his future at the club looks in doubt.
