The Dormaa District Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), on Wednesday received relief items for distribution to flood victims in the Upper East, Upper West and Northern Regions.
Gift FM 105.5, a private radio station at Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Brong Ahafo Region, through the assembly presented the items that
valued more than 5,000 Ghana cedis to NADMO at Dormaa-Ahenkro.
The radio station and Dr. Yaw Yeboah, Executive Director of the Pentecost Relief Services, and a citizen of the town, jointly mobilized the items.
Presenting the items, Mr. Mohammed Wenchie, General Manager of Gift FM said the initiative formed part of the radio station's social responsibility to the people.
He said apart from educating, informing and entertaining the public, the media was obliged to mobilize resources to support displaced and distressed persons.
Mr. Wenchie urged individuals, religious bodies and other organizations to swiftly assist government in the management of natural disasters whenever they struck since they often occurred unexpectedly.
He commended donors of the items for the prompt response to the radio station's appeal for support for the flood victims.
Receiving the items, Mr. Baba Iddi, the Acting District Coordinating Director, lauded the contributions of the donors, the radio station and Dr. Yeboah towards the rehabilitation of the victims.
He gave the assurance that the items would be fairly distributed among beneficiaries.
