Ghana midfielder Rabiu Mohammed suffered a premature end to the season after being ruled out of action for up to six months with a cruciate ligament rupture.
The Kuban Krasnodar midfielder suffered the injury during their 1-0 home defeat to Rostov in the Russian Premier League on Sunday.
Tests revealed, the 26-year-old had a gap between the interior cruciate ligaments in his right knee and damaged the internal meniscus.
"I can confirm the worst fears. Rabiu was diagnosed with cruciate ligament rupture. The midfielder will have an operation and he will take 4-6 months to recover depending on the circumstances,” head coach Tashuev said.
"Rabiu will soon go to Germany for a more detailed examination, but the fact is that the season is over for the player."
Rabiu will most certainly miss Ghana’s two remaining matches in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mauritius and Rwanda.
