A queen mother who was on her way to “resolve” a chieftaincy dispute between two feuding factions in Kade has been killed in a motor accident, raising suspicion of foul play.
Nana Asieduaa Antwi Boasiako, queen mother of Akyem Pramkese had over the last ten days, been reported missing but the search for him came to a tragic end when her body was found at the Kade Hospital Mortuary.
The queen mother is said to have been involved in a road accident on her way to Kade – from Koforidua – to “resolve” a chieftaincy dispute there, a meeting called at the instance of one faction which strongly opposed the enstoolment of one Kofi Twumasi Ankrah, deemed to be the queen mother’s favourite.
Speaking to Joy FM on Wednesday Mr Ankrah, who is also a member of the royal family, accused his opponents of orchestrating the death of the late queen mother.
“We suspect it was a planned accident whereby they lured the queen mother to meet them at Kade to resolve a chieftaincy matter which had been lodged at the Kade Police Station.
“They monitored her movement from Koforidua and I think they planted somebody at Koforidua to see the vehicle on which they were travelling… and they crashed her,” he alleged.
Ankrah said Nana Boasiako had been threatened with death by members of the anti-royal family also claiming to be next to take up the stool.
Meanwhile, police at Kade have played down suggestions that the late queen mother was assassinated, insisting it would be premature to draw such a conclusion, especially, when investigations are ongoing.
“For now it will be too (early) to come to conclusion because so far as investigations are ongoing we must take time and make our findings and our facts,” Police Commander Superintendent Wisdom Akorley told Joy News’ Sammy Darko.
