Prudential Bank Limited has completed a GH¢1.13 billion strategic capital investment from Bloom Africa Holdings Ghana Limited (BAHGL), following regulatory approval from the Bank of Ghana.
The investment is expected to strengthen the bank’s capital position beyond the regulatory minimum, increase its lending capacity and support its next phase of growth.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 9, 2026, the bank said the capital injection would enable it to invest in technology, improve customer service and expand support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and corporate clients.
The funds will also support the bank’s digital transformation drive as it seeks to improve banking convenience and compete more aggressively in the financial services sector.
Ebow Quayson, Acting Managing Director of Prudential Bank, said the investment would enhance the bank’s capacity to deliver on its strategic priorities.
“It gives us greater capacity to invest in technology and service delivery, support the growth of our customers and their businesses, accelerate our digital transformation and position the Bank for its next phase of sustainable growth,” he said.
The transaction marks a significant milestone for Prudential Bank, one of Ghana’s long-established indigenous banks, which says it intends to build on its customer relationships and market presence to pursue new growth opportunities.
Pan-African expansion
Gabriel Edgal, Board Chairman of Bloom Africa Holdings, said the investment formed part of a broader ambition to build a Pan-African financial institution that connects businesses to capital and opportunities across the continent.
He said the group intended to leverage Prudential Bank’s established presence and understanding of the Ghanaian market to support businesses and facilitate economic activity.
“We believe Africa’s growth must be supported by strong African institutions that can facilitate trade, mobilise capital and enable businesses to grow within and beyond their immediate markets,” he said.
Bloom Africa Holdings Ghana Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bloom Africa Holdings Limited, Mauritius, an investment holding company focused on developing a financial services platform to facilitate capital flows, trade and investment across Africa.
The parent company currently has banking investments in The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Liberia, with plans to expand into other West African countries and strategic markets.
Prudential Bank’s board and management expressed appreciation to the Bank of Ghana for its guidance and support throughout the approval process, as well as to shareholders, customers, employees and other stakeholders for their continued confidence in the bank.
The bank said the investment would reinforce its financial resilience and provide additional capacity to support customers and businesses while pursuing sustainable, long-term growth.
