Prudential Bank Limited (PBL) has donated a sum of GH¢50,000 to the Ghana School of Law to support the renovation and expansion of the school’s infrastructure for the advancement of legal education in the country.

The donation followed an appeal to the bank by the former Acting Director of the Ghana School of Law, Maxwell Opoku Agyeman.

According to him, since 1958 when the main lecture theatre of the school was constructed, there has not been any renovation of the original structure.

He therefore stressed the need for urgent renovation and expansion works to enhance the school’s enrollment capacity and to provide better teaching and learning facilities.

At a short ceremony held at the school's premises for the presentation of the cheque, Thomas Broni, the Executive Head, Operations of Prudential Bank, said supporting education is a key focus area of the Bank’s corporate social responsibility activities.

Mr. Broni said, “as an indigenous bank, we believe that as the country expands, there is always a need for the services of the legal profession in the provision of fair, effective and efficient law and order.”

He added that the bank is privileged to have had the opportunity to contribute financially to such a worthy cause and he further stated that the bank’s newly formed partnership with the school is expected to grow just like several other rewarding partnerships created by the Bank since its inception 25 years ago.

Mr. Opoku Agyeman, who received the cheque on behalf of the Ghana School of Law and the Board of Legal Education, expressed his profound gratitude to the bank for the support, giving the  assurance that the money will be used solely for the intended purposes.
