Otabli, a farming community in the Birim North District last Sunday erupted with joy when a prophetess uprooted a tree suspected to be a meeting place for witches.
Prophetess Grace Adu of the Peace of God Church at Jerusalem near Akyem Achiase in the Birim South District was able to bring the tree down after intensive prayers for some minutes.
According to her she arrived in the community on an evangelism crusade where the people complained to her about their suspicion that the tree was an evil one and was retarding their progress.
She said the people told her that they tried on numerous occasions to fell the tree without success.
Prophetess Grace said when the tree finally came down a big hole was discovered inside with a mat lying in it.
She said the devil was at work and urged Christians to pray without ceasing and appealed to people with spiritual problems to contact her.
John Asiedu, an opinion leader in the community confirmed the story and said the tree was on a cocoa farm but the cocoa trees could not bear fruits.
