Prophet Kofi Sammy, Founder and Leader of the Dr. Jesus Praying Ministry near Kasoa in the Central Region, claims he has seen Jesus in a vision and He spoke to him.
“Well, he was shinning and the place he stood was also shinning. I could not look at him for a long time but He had long hair and was a very nice person,” Kofi Sammy described the apparition which he claims has given him special powers to perform miracles through the use of ordinary clay.
While this may sound bizarre, thousands of hungry-for-miracle Christians in Ghana are literally eating, drinking, smearing and some even injecting the clay-sand into their stomachs by putting it into an enema bag and administering it through the anus.
The strange clay is believed to have the power to transform poverty into wealth and chase off evil spirits and demons; it is as well reputed as having the potency to cure many ailments including lunacy, bareness, stroke, fibroid and cancer.
Last Wednesday when DAILY GUIDE visited the gaping pit from where the miracle clay is being dug, near the Budumburam Camp on the outskirts of Kasoa, several thousands of people had gathered there and were in a deep state of worship as they hanged on to their polythene bags and containers with which they hoped to carry the clay.
Due to the mad rush for the mysterious clay and the fear that thieves could even steal some at night, the pit from which it is dug had been cordoned and kept under lock and key.
Already, the clay had been eaten up so much that the pit had gone very deep.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that women, especially those in their menstrual period, were not allowed into the pit and only a few men had been chosen and sanctified to enter it.
The sanctified men use small rocks in hitting the bottom of the pit to soften the clay before they gather and collect it for ever waiting hands.
The rule is that apart from the small rocks, no metallic object in the form of a pick-axe, shovel, hoe or chisel should be used in the digging.
Leader of the miracle clay-eaters, Prophet Kofi Sammy, in an interview with DAILY GUIDE, claimed he had a revelation from God that he should use the clay to perform miracles for people in need and that anyone he administered the clay on would get an immediate solution to whatever problem he or she has.
He said he was a devout Catholic when the revelation came but he had to leave the Catholic Church to form the Dr. Jesus Praying Ministry from where he administers the miracle clay and gives directions on its use.
Interestingly, many of the people who were worshiping by the pit gave testimonies of how the strange clay had either transformed their lives for the better or cured them of an ailment.
Kofi Sammy told DAILY GUIDE that the miracle clay had helped many people and that some of them out of gratitude had bought him cars totaling four, a mini-Urvan bus and even built for him at an entirely free cost, the four-bedroom self-contained apartment in which he currently lives with his family.
When asked how sure he was that God gave him the revelation and quizzed to explain the medical backing of the strange clay, Kofi Sammy said he could not explain how the clay works medically but was confident he saw Jesus in a vision giving him instructions on what to do with the clay.
“Why are you asking me how Jesus looked like when I saw him? Well, he was shinning and the place he stood was also shinning.
I could not look at him for a long time but he had long hair and was a very nice person,” Kofi Sammy added, but said he could not explain the language in which Jesus spoke to him.
The Prophet was quick to quote a portion of the Bible in the book of John chapter nine where Jesus had mixed his spittle with clay and used it to open the eyes of a blind person.
Kofi Sammy added that since he had faith in the Bible, he could do more than Jesus did and that using clay for miracles was Biblical.
He claimed his ministry was not a church but only a prayer group and they therefore do not meet on Sundays, noting that during their services, they strictly refuse offerings and that they also do not charge any money for the clay.
The prophet said he had cured many lunatics who were brought to him after all efforts to cure them had proven futile, and that the 12 plots of land on which he had built the prayer camp and the five hall and chamber apartment which serves as a mission house for the ministry were all gifts from people who had used the clay and found solutions to their problems.
Strangely, Kofi Sammy does not wear trousers; he puts on a pair of shorts beneath a shirt and uses an old pair of loafers.
