Prof. Rev Charles Anum Adams of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is the new president of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE).
He replaces Alexander Leslie Ayeh whose term of office expired this year.
Profile
Prof. Charles Adams obtained a BSc. in Civil Engineering, in 1991 at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.
He was awarded a British Council ODA Fellowship to pursue postgraduate studies in the Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine of the University of London (UK) where he obtained an MSc in Transport and earned a Diploma of Imperial College (DIC) in 1993.
He later enrolled for a PhD in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation during which he was visiting scholar to the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), Chennai, India and University of Birmingham.
Prof. Adams has a Postgraduate Certificate in Strategic Leadership and Change Management from the Maastricht School of Management, Netherlands.
He started his career as a teaching assistant at KNUST in August 1991 and was appointed as Lecturer in the Civil Engineering Department in 1993.
Ing.Prof. Adams was the moderator of Civil Engineering Programmes in KAAF University College, Buduburam and the Accra Institute of Technology.
He was the Programme manager for Road and Transportation Engineering Programme (RTEP), head of the Road and Transportation Engineering Section, Civil Engineering Department, KNUST and the founding Center Director and visionary of the Regional Transport Research and Education Center Kumasi (TRECK), a World Bank African Center of Excellence in transport.
He is also the Leader for the Center for Sub Saharan Transport Leadership (CSSTL) all hosted at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.
Ing.Prof.Adams has expertise in traffic and transportation infrastructure systems planning, design, monitoring and maintenance.
Prof Adams is a preacher and president of the United Denominations Originating from the Light house Group of Churches(UD-OLGC)
