The Community Hospitals Group has announced its readiness to partner government in providing quality but affordable health care across the country.

Chief Executive Officer of the Community Hospitals Group Mr. Alexander Akwasi Acquah hinted that the provision of health care should not be a preserve of government, therefore, the private sector must be supported to complement government efforts in providing basic needs like health care.

He said The Community Hospitals Group has the plan to roll out what they termed “One District, One Community Hospital so that people can have access to quality healthcare at a very affordable fee”.

“Government is going to roll out the One District, one factory policy but if we don’t have a good health facility across the districts, workers will go through hell when they are sick. In view of this, we have decided to partner government to build a Community Hospital in each district,” Mr. Akwasi Aquah indicated.

In most areas outside the major towns, residents travel long distances before they access health care, a situation the CEO said is not pleasant for the country.

Mr. AKwasi Acquah made the remarks Wednesday, July 12, 2017, when the Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo donated an ambulance to The Community Hospital at Kukurantumi in the Eastern Region.

According to him, The Community Hospitals Group has committed to solving the health care needs of the country and has demonstrated this over the past 8-years that it has been operating in the health sector.

He said, the Group currently runs Eight (8) health facilities with morgues across the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions within 8-years of existence and remains committed to delivering quality services to clients.

Promise fulfilled

The Mercedes Benz ambulance which cost GHÈ»94 000.00 is to help accelerate referral and transport of emergency cases within the Abuakwa North constituency and its surrounding areas, to tertiary health facilities and also help in saving lives from accident cases.

Mrs. Gifty Ampofo, who is also the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency on her part indicated that, the Akufo-Addo government sees the private sector as a key partner in development hence, will create the enabling environment for players to thrive.

Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo said the presentation of the ambulance is in fulfilment of a promise she made some six months ago when The Community Hospital was commissioned at Kukurantumi.

The Community Hospital currently operates in Ashong Estates, Kaneshie Market and Ashaiman all in Accra, as well as Oda and Kukurantumi in the Eastern Region.
