The Black Princesses hopes of landing gold in the finals of the 2011 All Africa Games were dashed on Saturday after losing 1-0 to Cameroon.
A second half goal by Mani Ngono from a header sealed the victory for Cameroon at the National Stadium in Maputo, Mozambique.
Both sides were unbeaten before the finals but the defeat leaves Kuuku Dadzie's side to settle for silver at the Games.
Ghana looked the dominant side in the opening half which ended goalless against a rather physical Cameroonian side.
However, Cameroon stunned the Black Princesses when they scored before the 70th minute mark and defended strongly throughout.
Ghana had beaten Algeria 3-0 in the semi-finals after wins over Tanzania, Zimbabwe and a draw against South Africa in the group stages.
