Ghana's Black Princesses, the national U-20 female team qualified for their maiden FIFA World Cup slated for Germany after they spanked the Democratic Republic of Congo 3-0 in a return encounter at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra on Friday.
The Princesses needed just a draw to cruise to the World Cup in the summer this year after coming home 2-0 victors in the first leg in Congo.
The Ghanaian ladies started the game slowly but peaked at the right time with goals from Faiza Ibrahim, Elizabeth Cudjoe and Florence Dadson doing the trick.
Both teams struggled at the opening embers of the game but it was the visitors who settled first but their lack of confidence upfront left Ghana's goalkeeper, Patricia Mantey untested until very late in the game.
Mantey's opposite number, Ngog Nudinsi however came under pressure from a Princesses attack that was beginning to click.
Twice the goalie made a gallant save to keep her side in the game but shortly after, she conceded her first goal for the day.
Ibrahim pounced on a clearance and raced deep into the visitor's
penalty area before planting the ball beyond goalkeeper Nudinsi in the 40th minute to gift the supporters dotted in the arena a reason to cheer about.
Two minutes on, Cudjoe replicated Ibrahim's effort with a solo ran from the middle in a manner that upped the cheers to record Ghana's second goal within minutes.
Both teams resumed the second half with renewed strength that spiced up the game.
The action was however reduced to midfield and occasional comedy of errors characterizing play upfront at both ends of the field, wasteful
Dadson managed to solidify Ghana's lead when she finished off Cudjoe's
individual brilliance on the stroke of full time to authenticate the Princesses' sweet victory.
