It's matchday 24.
One FCPPL game will be honoured on Friday, another on Saturday and the six remaining on Sunday.
This arrangement will make it possible, for the first time, to watch three Ghanaian Premier League games in a single weekend. The broadcaster, SuperSport, hope the move will increase TV viewing and, ultimately, patronage of the league.
The Blues are in form
Friday afternoon sees second-placed Berekum Chelsea play as guests to Bechem United. The Blues go into this fixture knowing a win can temporarily send them top of the league and they'll fight tooth and nail to ensure victory against the Bechem side who have lost their last two games.
Berekum Chelsea will attempt football a “coup” when they visit the Nana Ofosu Gyeabour Park. The Blues' rise has been remarkable as they came from mid-table a few weeks ago to just two points behind league leaders AshGold.
Suddenly, they are the closest title contenders for the faltering Obuasi side.
Chelsea have won four and drawn once in their last five games; a record they would hope to continue.
The Berekum side have relatively been poor travelers on the road this season but after their historic win over Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Sunday, they seem to have overcome their away hoodoo.
Solomon Odwo, the Chelsea boss, has put together a well-drilled unit with a mixture of youthful panache and experience.
Team captain Samuel Kyere is undeniably the go to man in the team but in recent weeks, the pair of Kofi Owusu and Stephen Baffour have done damage to their opponents scoring 21 of Chelsea’s 38 games.
Chelsea will be seeking their first ever goal at the Ofosu Gyeabour Park.
Bechem will however come into the game hungry for their own survival in the league. They sit just a point above the relegation zone and would hope to reassure their home fans, they will avert relegation come September when the league ends.
The record does not make good reading for the Bechem side as they are yet win any match involving Berekum Chelsea in the Premier League. More worryingly, the Bechem side are yet to score against the Blues at home with their two meetings ending in goalless draws.
Bechem United have been vulnerable this season, conceding 30 goals. They will be looking to strike duo Noah Martey and Ernest Baffour, who have combined to score eight goals this season, to provide the ammo for them. Not forgetting former Petrojet Star Cofie Bekoe, who has been a thorn for defenders.
Given the importance of three points to both teams, this fixture will prove a cracker as it will have bearings on both sides of the league log.
Will Bechem pull clear of the relegation zone or will Chelsea prove their title credentials with a win?
