President John Atta Mills leaves Accra tonight for New York to attend the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The President is scheduled to arrive in New York on Tuesday, September 22, and is one of the few Leaders out of the 192 expected at the General Assembly who will have a high-level one-on-one bilateral meeting with the UN Secretary General upon arrival; join fellow Heads of States for the Summit on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, before addressing the General Assembly on Thursday, September 24, 2009.
A statement issued by head of ocmmunications at the presidency, Koku Anyidoho said Ghana Television is expected to telecast live His Excellency’s address to the General Assembly between 09.30 hrs and 10.00 hrs on September 24, 2009.
Inter alia, President John Atta Mills, together with Presidents of countries that contribute troops to Peace Keeping operations, will hold discussions with President Barack Obama.
The President will also meet with British Prime Minister, Right Honourable Gordon Brown and Mr. Robert Zoellick, President of the World Bank Group, for a discussion on “Investing in our Common Future: Healthy Women, Healthy Children”.
President Atta Mills will leave New York on Friday, September 25, 2009, for Isla Margarita, Venezuela, to attend the second Africa-South America Summit which will end on the 27th.
His Excellency the President will be in Washington between the 28th and 1st of October for a number of engagements including a meeting with the Corporate Council on Africa – a forum of top American Companies with operations in Africa.
In New York and Washington, His Excellency the President will interact with a cross-section of Ghanaians.
