President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday conveyed the condolences of the Government to the bereaved family of the late Justice Kwaku Eture Amua-Sekyi, a retired Supreme Court Judge and Chairman of the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC).
"Justice Amua-Sekyi was a jurist who rose to the highest pinnacle, the Supreme Court. We will miss him," he said, when a delegation of the bereaved family called to formally inform him of his death and burial arrangements at the Castle, Osu.
President Kufuor paid glowing tribute to him, describing him as honest, dignified and someone who upheld the liberty of his fellow human beings.
It were these attributes, he said, that influenced his choice by the Government to chair the NRC, a task he discharged with distinction.
He noted that Justice Amua-Sekyi who died at the ripe age of 73 lived a full life.
Mr Isaac Banafo Hackman, the Spokesperson, informed President Kufuor that the funeral has been fixed for July 6, at the Jubilee Parade grounds, Takoradi.
This would be preceded by a pre-burial service at the Anglican Cathedral Church in Sekondi on July 5 to be followed later with a thanksgiving service on July 8 at the same venue.
