A woman in her fifth month of pregnancy has died after she slipped into a well at Sekondi in the Western Region.
Efua Amoaba, 38, is reported to have gone to the well to fetch water on Tuesday when the incident happened.
In an interview, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan NADMO Coordinator, James Obeng Jnr said although the deceased fell into the well on Tuesday, her body was retrieved on Wednesday.
He explained that this was because the relatives of Madam Amoaba thought she was missing until they heard news that someone had fallen into a well.
The family then proceeded to the scene to confirm that indeed it was their relative.
They subsequently called on the Ghana National Fire Service, who went to the scene to retrieve her body.
Mr Obeng said the police who were also at the scene conducted a preliminary investigation and took the body to the Effia Nkawnta Mortuary.
Efua Amoaba was a mother of two and a fishmonger until her demise.
