Pope Francis has appointed a new Nuncio, or papal ambassador to Ghana.
The announcement of H.E Monsignor Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski as the new Apostolic Nuncio, was made on Sunday at the Ghana Catholic Secretariat.
An Apostolic Nuncio is an ecclesiastical diplomat, serving as an envoy or a permanent diplomatic representative of the Holy See to a state or to an international organisation.
The new Ambassador of the Holy See to Ghana takes over from H.E Archbishop Jean Marie Speich.
H.E Monsignor Jagodzinski, who is also Titular Archbishop-elect of Limosano, therefore, becomes the ninth Nuncio to Ghana.
From 2018 until his appointment as Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, he was assigned as First Counsellor in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
He speaks Polish, his native language, Italian, French, English, Croatian, Russian and Spanish.
