Some patrons of the Labadi Beach Hotel have raised serious concerns about excessive noise levels caused by activities at the Polo Beach Club, which shares a wall with the hotel.
Despite an interim injunction granted in favour of Labadi Beach Hotel, restraining Spartan Ives Limited, operators of the Polo Beach Club, from operating the club or hosting events on the hotel’s property or adjoining restricted areas for 10 days, the company recently defied the order by hosting an event on the 22nd December, well into the morning of 23rd December causing disturbance and discomfort to hotel guests.
The hotel as at 2am was quiet with all guests in their rooms, but not all were able to sleep. Loud music and fireworks from the Polo Beach Club filled the air and were clearly audible even within the hotel premises.
Just 100 meters apart, it felt like two completely different worlds. While hotel guests struggled to find peace and rest in their rooms, the party was alive and thriving at the Polo Beach Club.
Some of the frustrated guests are calling for immediate action to put an end to the situation. Jerome Thomas travelled to Ghana with his wife and has been lodging at the facility.
He said “You spend so much time out and about in Ghana and you come here to have a good night's sleep and your night is disturbed by unexpected fireworks”
He further stated “ It’s very loud, it’s very disturbing to sleep. If something can be done about it it will be wonderful”
His wife shared similar concerns, she said “The noise has been egregious, especially at 3 am. I don’t mind it until 10 or 11 pm but the noise from the beach has been exceptionally exhausting to hear at all times. During the day, we are fine, or up until 12 a.m., we are fine, but beyond that, it’s not okay.”
This comes despite an interim injunction granted in favour of Labadi Beach Hotel. The injunction restrains Spartan Ives Limited, operators of Polo Beach Club, from running the club or hosting events at the Labadi beachfront and adjoining restricted areas for ten days. However, the company recently defied the order by hosting an event, causing great disturbance and discomfort to hotel guests and others nearby.
The injunction, issued on December 19, 2024, followed legal action initiated by Hotel Investments (Ghana) Limited, the owners of Labadi Beach Hotel, as part of efforts to reclaim their disputed land where the Polo Beach Club is located.
When JoyNews contacted authorities of the Polo Beach Club, for their response, they declined to comment.
