Police say they are due to investigate a private security guard at the Italian Embassy in Accra who received a call threatening someone intended to bomb the place.
The phone call went directly to the unnamed security guard’s mobile phone, and police think he may be a vital witness to the source.
The police were on Monday alerted someone, apparently refused Italian visa, had threatened to bomb the place. The embassy had to shut momentarily while the police secured the place.
No bomb was found there, but the police say they are not lowering their guard, and would search all vehicles that use the portion of the Switch Back Road driveway near the embassy. All persons visiting the embassy would also be searched until the threat of bombing is eliminated.
ACP Bright Oduro, Deputy Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, told Joy News the search would have to continue, but the embassy has already resumed business.
