But for the timely intervention of six armed policemen, two suspected car snatchers would have been lynched.
The suspects were alleged to have snatched a car from its owner in the early hours of Wednesday.
But luck run out for them when some vigilant residents chased them according to an eye witness who spoke to Joy News, with machetes.
The police after a hectic time rescued two, a man and a lady who was stripped naked and beaten severely.
A third person however managed to escape.
