The Head of Police Public Affairs, DSP Kwasi Ofori has announced the readiness of the police to assist in ensuring security and peace in the up-coming general elections.
He said this in an exclusive interview with ASEMPA FM today. DSP Kwasi Ofori disclosed that the Police in collaboration with the Immigration Service, CEPS, Fire Service, Prisons and Soldiers have formed a task force called National Election Security Task Force chaired by the Inspector General of Police, Mr. P.K. Acheampong to provide security to party leaders and sympathizers during rallies and campaigns in this pre-election period.
He added that, the Police together with the other security agencies are still putting measures together to ensure peaceful elections.
DSP Kwasi Ofori advised political parties who patronize the services of macho men as bodyguards to refrain from such attitudes since it is a breach of the constitution.
