Police post reward on Tema killers

The Tema Regional Police Command has offered a reward of 2000 Ghana cedis for anyone or group of persons who will volunteer information that will lead to the arrest of the killers of Alhaji Mumuni Hamidu and his son, Dawuda Mohammed. The two were gunned down by unknown persons at dawn on January 4, at their Regimanuel Estate residence, near Tema community 18. Alhaji Mumuni, a former superintendent at the Plant Protection of Valco, who retired voluntarily six years ago as a result of poor sight, was shot in the stomach, whilst Dawuda, a computer science student of the Tamale campus of the University for Development Studies, was shot in the back of his head. Briefing the media on the latest development of the murder in Tema, the Regional Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) John Kudalor said the reward, provided by a philanthropist (name withheld), is to enable the police to arrest the culprits. ACP Kudalor said the police will protect the identity of the informants. Asked about what could have been the motive for the killings, ACP Kudalor did not mention any specific reason but said: "We are considering several factors that could have led to the crime". He said the police are doing everything humanly possible to unravel the mystery and get to the bottom of the issue. The assailants entered Alhaji Hamidu's house by scaling the wall of an adjoining house. They forced open the kitchen door and went to the living room where Dawuda was studying. At gun point, they ordered him to show them his father's room. Father and son were then shot by the assailants who then departed, taking away only three mobile phones from the house.
