Emerging information indicates that the police administration approved the installation of Awomefia for a faction in the Anlo chieftaincy crisis.
The attempted installation resulted in five deaths, including a police officer who was said to have been seized and murdered.
Member of Parliament for Anlo, Clement Kofi Humado brought up the matter in Parliament on Wednesday where he argued that the police granted a rival faction permission to install a disputed claimant, Francis Nyonyo Agboada as Awomefia.
The MP says he has a letter in his possession which shows that the police gave the go ahead for the Nyonyo Agboada faction.
Mr Humado also blames the Interior Minister for deliberately withholding that vital information when he appeared before Parliament on November 6 to brief the House on the circumstances leading to the violent conflict.
Even though Kwamena Bartels had told Parliament that the police granted a permit for a festival and not a coronation, the MP says evidence he has suggests the contrary.
Mr Bartels persists in his denial of the letter prior to his appearance in Parliament and has promised to launch an enquiry into the matter to establish if the police administration withheld that information from his ministry
Later in an interview, the Anlo MP told Joy News that the miscommunication between the Interior Minister and the Inspector General of Police raises several questions.
