The Northern Regional Police Command has impounded a cargo truck carrying an unspecified amount of ammunition in Bimbilla in the Northern region.
Some cartridges were found in the truck but the police say investigations are underway to ascertain the quantity and types of ammunition being carried by the cargo truck.
The owner of the ammunition and the driver of the vehicle have been arrested and are assisting in the police investigations.
The police say it is unclear at this point where the truck was coming from.
Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Brakatuo, who is the Northern Regional Police Commander, told Joy News that the vehicle was intercepted following a tip-off and the suspects and the cargo were all in the custody of the Bimbilla police.
