The Police Hospital in Accra Tuesday evening released the corpse of a Nigerian man, murdered by his girlfriend, to his family for burial.
This follows bitter agitation and protests by family and friends of the deceased over mortuary fees they described as 'too high'.
The family was supposed to have paid $1,300 but deposited $300 and demanded the release of the body.
After intense negotiations, the hospital authorities agreed to waive the outstanding fees and handed the body over to the family.
Francis Akrokor, President of the Niger Delta State Association told Joy News the deceased has since been buried.
The deceased, Emmanuel Assinor was alleged to have been murdered by his Nigerian girlfriend at their Christian Village residence after an altercation.
The suspect is in police custody assisting investigation into the case.
