Police at Hohoe on Thursday clamped down on the activities of recalcitrant bicycle and motor users, who rode without headlights during the power outage period in the town.
In all, 15 bicycles and three motor users were arrested whilst two bicycles were abandoned by their riders in the process in an operation dubbed "Safety Roads", which lasted for three-hours.
Mr Kwabena Antwi-Boasiako, Hohoe District Police Commander, who briefed the Ghana News Agency, said the operation was as a result of public outcry from reports on the upsurge of accident cases and the unruly behaviour and recklessness exhibited on the roads by users of bicycles and motorbikes in the night.
He said their activities were not only nuisance to societal peace and tranquility and affront to other road users but also a disregard for road traffic regulations.
Mr Antwi-Boasiako said the exercise would be sustained and warned motor users without helmets to procure one in earnest or face the rigours of the law.
He said the offenders would be arraigned before court soon.
