With less than 24 hours for Airfoce I, the official jet of the US President, George W. Bush, to touch down, residents of Accra would have to brace themselves for some direct repercussions as the police has announced several road closures to coincide with the visit of the Mr. Bush.
The Acting Police Public Relations Director DSP Kwesi Ofori said in an interview with Joy News that the move has become necessary to ensure an incident-free visit.
He cited the Liberation Road with the closure spanning the 37 Military Hospital-Tetteh Quarshie Interchange way.
These measures mean “all vehicular traffic from 6:30am to 7:30pm would on Tuesday be dead along the road.”
The closures would also affect the 37 Military Hospital-Afrikiko traffic lights road and the fourth circular road from the Silver Star Tower to the Airport Traffic Light.
“The road from the 37 Military Hospital through Al-Wak and Congo Junction to La T-Junction as well as that from the La Road U-turn to the Teshie Police Station” will be affected.
He noted that the road sealing could possibly be carried out on the 19th and the 21st at very short notice.
