PLB considers waiving radio commentary rights

The Premier League Board is considering allowing radio stations to cover the upcoming premiership season for free. Radio stations paid a fee of GH¢1,000 as commentary rights for covering the 2010/2011 Glo premiership season, but the organizing body is in serious talks to waive it this season. The PLB Chairman, Mr. Welbeck Abra Appiah in an interview with Asempa Sports on Tuesday, said the board has had discussions with the GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi on the subject and he is hoping for a good and favourable response. According to the PLB chairman, the initial discussions with Mr. Nyantakyi has been worthwhile and he is thus hopeful the commentary rights will be waived. Mr Abra Appiah believes the waiving of the rights will give the competition the necessary mileage since more radio stations will be able to cover it.
