Today on JoyNews, The Law engaged with personnel from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
Host, Samson Lardy Anyenini interacted with SSNIT's Legal Services Manager Emmanuel Sackey and Acting Public Affairs Manager, Charles Akwei Garshong.
SSNIT has recently taken legal action against 7,951 defaulting employers.
The Trust in January this year, (SSNIT) also adjusted monthly pensions upwards by 10 percent. The decision was taken in consultation with the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) pursuant to Section 80 of the National Pensions Act 2008 (Act 766).
This is to help maintain the purchasing power of pensioners.
Again, SSNIT has extended the deadline for Members of the Scheme to merge their SSNIT and National Identification Cards, popularly called Ghana Card from 31st December, 2021 to 30th June, 2022. This was done to bring a huge relief to several Ghanaian workers who are yet to merge their SSNIT and National ID Cards.
The discussion hovered around these issues and many more.
