On Thursday, September 21, demonstrators who showed up within the vicinity of the Jubilee House and the 37 Military Hospital to air their grievances about the poor conditions of the country were arrested by the police.
The police say the protesters were arrested for unlawful assembly and violation of the Public Order Act following their decision to disregard court documents served on the organisers, Democracy Hub, to refrain from embarking on the planned demonstration.
Although the protesters have been released, there have been complaints of assaults and manhandling by the police.
Meanwhile, the police have also denied any “evidence or reported case of assault against the demonstrators based on police record.”
It is on the back of these developments, that JoyNews’ Newsfile held a conversation on the happening.
The news analysis programme also delved into the Special Prosecutor's latest revelations about the former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Dapaah's “stolen cash” case.
