This Saturday’s edition of JoyNews’ Newsfile discussed the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s galamsey corruption investigations after the former Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) was arrested and subsequently granted a GHȼ2 million bail.
The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyabeng provided an update on the ongoing investigations into the activities and expenditure of IMCIM and other potential corruption-related activities in illegal mining.
This helped to ascertain the former IMCIM Chairman’s crime for which he was arrested on May 16.
Newsfile also delved into the National Democratic Congress's accusation against the Electoral Commission (EC) of attempting to insert the name of an NPP Parliamentary aspirant into the Assin North voters register ahead of the by-election.
The EC refutes the claim, but where does it leave all of us?
Also, the vexed issue of Take or Pay contract arrangements in energy procurement was dissected.
