The Akufo-Addo-led government has spent millions of cedis of taxpayers’ money to construct warehouses across the country under the well-known One District, One Warehouse (1D1W) initiative.
1D1W was one of the many laudable initiatives that President Akufo-Addo and his officials promised to Ghanaians.

The warehouses are built in deserving districts across the country; however, in some areas, the intended purpose of these projects has not been achieved after their completion.
Most of the projects, after completion, are neither commissioned nor handed over to the local authorities, and construction in some districts has been abandoned.

In Ho, the Volta regional capital, the large warehouse is about 90% completed but has been left to deteriorate. The facility has become a habitat for reptiles, and some areas have been damaged by heat waves.
During a recent visit to the site, weeds were growing around the building, and some portions had been cultivated with cassava and maize.

The road leading to the site is also impassable. A man who identified himself as a Togolese national claims to be the security guard monitoring the facility; however, he declined to answer questions.
